چکیده

We outline, briefly, the role that issues of the nexus between noncomputability and unpredictability, on the one hand, and between undecidability and unsolvability, on the other, have played in Computable Economics. The mathematical underpinnings of Computable Economics are provided by (classical) recursion theory, varieties of computable and constructive analysis and aspects of combinatorial optimization. The inspiration for this outline was provided by Professor Garça’s thought-provoking recent article in this Journal.

How Far Can We Go Through Social System? Algorithmic Information Social Theories

The paper elaborates an endeavor on applying the algorithmic information-theoretic computational complexity to meta-social-sciences. It is motivated by the effort on seeking the impact of the well-known incompleteness theorem to the scientific methodology approaching social phenomena. The paper uses the binary string as the model of social phenomena to gain understanding on some problems faced ...

Julia Kopf , Thomas Augustin and Carolin Strobl The Potential of Model - Based Recursive Partitioning in the Social Sciences – Revisiting Ockham

A variety of new statistical methods from the field of machine learning have the potential to offer new impulses for research in the social, educational and behavioral sciences. In this article we focus on one of these methods: model-based recursive partitioning. This algorithmic approach is reviewed and illustrated by means of instructive examples and an application to the Mincer equation. For...

WebStore: Efficient Storage and Access of the Web

Research on enormous networks such as the web often suffers from a lack of appropriate tools to exploit the tremendous amounts of available data. Since networks such as the web are not centrally planned and are undergoing constant evolution that is intimately linked to economic and social developments, it is not surprising that research into their structure and ongoing evolution often more clos...

Composite Diffusion Limited Aggregation Paintings

Diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) is a modelling technique for simulating dendritic growth that has seen widespread application in the physical, biological, and social sciences. We introduce an artistic component to the basic technique by adding special effects parameters to a single particle, random walk DLA aggregation scheme. Our goal is to explore the potential of the enhanced scheme as a...
